The MPC honoured to sing at the annual Road Peace service in Piccadilly

Yesterday the Metropolitan Police Choir led by Richard Fox was honoured to sing again at the annual Road Peace charity service for lives lost and broken on our roads. It is always a very emotional event during which the choir sing several pieces to uplift and support the attendees, several of whom gave moving addresses on their own personal losses.

As before the service was held at the beautiful church of St James’s Piccadilly and led by the Revd Lucy Winkett.

Our female tenor Doris who was singing for the first time at yesterday's event said she was honoured to be a part of it. "The families sharing their loss was very emotional... and the tragedy is that all these deaths could have been avoided".

Speakers at the event included VisionZero lead for the Met Police Alexis Manley and Dan Quin, Chief Fire Officer at Surrey Fire and Rescue Service and Road Safety Lead for the National Fire Chiefs Council (NFCC).

One of our choristers, Steve, is a traffic officer who sees the aftermath of the devastation caused by road traffic collisions every day of his working life. The service was especially poignant for him, of course as he explained "I see first hand the impact that dangerous driving, drink and drug driving, not wearing a seatbelt and using a mobile phone while driving can have. And I really wanted to stress the importance of safe, sober driving over the upcoming festive season and beyond".

The MPC were delighted to play a small part in this very important occasion.
