"I joined the Metropolitan Police Service in 1979 and therefore pre PACE! I served at ZT, ZB, LS, LC and WA. I left the Police in 1987 where I completed a PGCE in secondary music and worked as a Deputy to the Head of Music in a boys Prep school. I have always loved music, but never really had much opportunity to sing Alto in a choir other than at Church. I did once sing with St Pauls Cathedral chorus in The Messiah when the Director was feeling generous and allowed parents to join them. I do remember feeling so privileged to be part of such a great work and I loved every minute of it. I have a particular passion for Schubert song but I think that nothing surpasses St Mathews Passion or B minor Mass.

I was really excited when I discovered that the mixed voice Met Police Choir was launching. I was really looking forward to that first Monday and we came away buzzing. I especially enjoy listening to the other parts and I love the enthusiasm that exudes from other members of the choir as it inspires us all. There is a real sense of unity and harmony which is helped I think that we are all part of a very big organisation. When I sing I think of the friends and colleagues I have made and of all the fantastic work that goes into Policing London. Its being part of a really good team and conjures up a sense of belonging similar to being on a Relief. You are confident that your colleagues will not let you down. I especially like the fact that Richard de briefs us each week which inspires us to work hard and aim high. I no longer have that Monday morning feeling as I know I have the evening to look forward to."
