Time now for another chorister intro and as we just heard about the history of the MPC it's a good opportunity to meet the choir's unofficial historian Leslie Stowe, pictured looking very dapper at rehearsal yesterday.
I am Leslie Stowe and I transferred from the Wiltshire Constabulary to the Metropolitan Police in 1975. Shortly afterwards I commenced singing with the Male Voice Choir initially as a second tenor but later moving to the bass section. Over the years choir numbers gradually diminished until there was a distinct possibility that it would be disbanded.
However new life was born when the Male Voice Choir became the mixed Metropolitan Police Choir in 2016. From that time the choir has been transformed and has gone from strength to strength. I am honoured to have been given the status of Honorary Vice President and am happy now to leave the administration and decision making to the present, and very competent, committee members.
For 47 years I have enjoyed singing with this choir and at present my favourite piece of music that we sing is 'One Day More' from the musical Les Miserables.
