Throughout the Autumn and Winter of 2022 and into the Spring and Summer of 2023 the Metropolitan Police Choir (MPC) is celebrating 150 years since it first came into being. To commemorate this momentous anniversary we will regularly be bringing you memories from that long and illustrious history interspersed with snippets from backstage at our rehearsals, mini Q and A’s with some of our past and present choristers and excerpts from our repertoire.
We hope to give you an insight into how everything works at the MPC, including who’s who, how it runs and why we all devote a lot of our time and energy to this very special and unique choir. And finally we will be firmly debunking a few myths about who can sing with us while giving a flavour of choir life.
So please join us on this 150th jubilee journey as we take you from the MPC’s small and humble beginnings through the many decades of being a successful male-voice choir and finally into the recent transformation to a mixed-voice choir of 50+ members under the musical direction of Mr Richard Fox, which welcomes allcomers from the police family and fully reflects the current Metropolitan Police Service.
