Chorister Intro: Annette - Alto

My name is Annette and I work as a police staff administrator for MO4 Forensics Services in central London. My voice part is alto and I have been singing with the MPC since women first joined as a mixed voice choir in the summer of 2016. This singing opportunity came about on the Met intranet first and three work colleagues and I thought "what could go wrong! Let’s give it a go". So we came along - by the winter of that year it was just me still going and I have continued to this day.

Even with no previous singing/musical background at all I thought, you know what I’m enjoying this! Personally for me it’s a relief from the stresses and strains of the every day work/life balance. My most memorable moment was performing at the unveiling of the Iraq and Afghanistan War Memorial in 2017, we sang to royalty you know! My favourite piece of music has got to be Cantique De Jean Racine by Fauré.

I'd say we are simply a good bunch of people from all walks of life singing for good causes with a very encouraging and helpful conductor and pianist to keep us all on our toes. #MPC150Years
